In 1694, following the death of his wife Mary, William of Orange became King of England.
With the circulating currency in poor condition, he authorised a complete re-coinage which included these historic crowns.
The solid silver crowns offered are dated either 1695 and 1696, bear the portrait of William III on the obverse and crowned cruciform shields on the reverse
