This series of models were created to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of VE Day, the end of the war in Europe, by illustrating how public transport changed during this period. The Ministry produced a bus specification which was simple, austere and utilised materials that were available and these became known as Utility Buses, and with paint shortages they appeared in a variety of colours.
