In November 1914, a young girl was so touched by the bravery and courage of our soldiers and sailors gallantly fighting in the first world war that she vowed to send a small Christmas box to each and everyone. She was, Princess Mary, only daughter of King George V. The boxes held gifts such as cigarettes, tobacco, sweets and chocolates. It is a great honour to hold one of these Royal gift boxes and remember that it bought comfort to a battle weary solider in the ravages of war. Each box measures approximately 25 mm x 90 mm.
