James II Silver Twopence 1685-1688
Just as the twopence of Queen Anne these were originally Maundy issues, but with King James very short reign it meant fewer were minted than other reigns.
James II was the Brother of Charles II, born 14th October 1633. His reign being very short was not popular after losing control to loyalist Tories who apposed his Catholic reforms. His was forced to abdicate and spent the remainder of his days in France
The coins are in Fine/very fine condition.
