Born in Windsor Castle in December 1421 acceded to the throne when he was just nine months old! During his childhood the war of the Roses broke out. He survived to reign for forty years even though he was a mild and weak monarch. Murdered in the Tower of London on the orders of Edward IV.

These silver portrait groats struck during the middle part of his reign have become an important coin in this series
