Edward VI Shilling 1547-1553 Portrait Type

After coming to the throne at the age of nine, Edward VI, the only son of Henry VIII had more than his fair share of problems. His reign only lasted six years, as he was a sickly child and died in 1553.

The silver shilling of Edward VI in the Portrait style did not last long. It's weight was soon to cause controversy and it was rapidly replaced with a heavier type with a facing bust, which was acceptable to the public.

This coin will make an impressive addition to your collection.
