Edward III Silver Half Groat 1327-1977

This Edward III silver half groat is a rare piece and was the first time this denomination was used, appearing in the coinage from 1351-77 A.D.

These silver 2d coins were first introduced to the coinage in 1351. The portrait of the King can be clearly seen on the obverse with the long cross, mint mark and town on the reverse. Now over 600 years old these are relatively rare coins and not always available on the market. In fine to VF condition.
