These genuine Roman bronze coins originate from the famous Blackmore Hoard, one of Britain's significant discoveries of late Roman coinage. Found near Blackmore, Essex, the hoard contained thousands of bronze coins buried during the turbulent years of the 3rd century AD, providing a fascinating insight into the currency circulating in Roman Britain during the breakaway Gallic Empire.

This example features coins of Tetricus I (AD 271–274) and Tetricus II (AD 273–274). Tetricus I was the last emperor of the Gallic Empire, ruling over Gaul and Britain during a period of political instability. He later elevated his son, Tetricus II, to the rank of Caesar and subsequently Augustus, with both appearing on contemporary coinage. Their reign came to an end in AD 274 when Emperor Aurelian reunified the Roman Empire following the Battle of Châlons.

The coins are bronze Antoniniani, the principal denomination of the period. The obverse typically depicts a radiate bust of the emperor with a Latin inscription naming the ruler, while the reverse features a variety of Roman deities and military themes representing peace, victory, hope or prosperity.
