The Double Florin was only struck during the reign of Queen Victoria over a period of 4 years between 1887 - 1890. The Double Florin was used to try and attempt to decimalise British Coinage in the late 1880's.

The coin had the equivalent value of 20 pence and was also known as the 'Barmaids ruin' as it was a similar size to a Crown, neither was it marked with a denomination.
