1812-16 George III Silver Eighteen Pence 1812-1816

By the early 1800's, Britain's finances were in a deplorable state. The bank of England organised emergency issues by counter stamping and over striking Spanish eight Reales with an issue of 3s and 1/6 tokens to help alleviate the shortage. This lasted just four years when the big re-coinage of 1816 took place. We have a small number of these second head type available from 1812-1816 1/6 silver tokens, much rarer than dealers think, in very fine to extremely fine condition.
