Gold Half Laurel of James I 1624
First issued in 1619 this half laurel was struck to replace its heavier counterpart the unite. It has a mintmark of a trefoil and was the last year of issue in 1624 under James I who was the first Scottish Monarch to sit on the English throne. The obverse has his fourth head and the reverse shows the long cross fourchee over crowned quartered shield of arms.
