James I 1603-1625 Halfcrown
James VI of Scotland ascended the English throne in 1603 and became King James I, the first Stuart King of England. Scotland and England remained individual states and had their own parliaments and law, but both were ruled by James. These coins feature the king on horse back with a shield reverse. James I is know for 1605 Gunpowder Plot and authorising new versions of the Bible.
