King Richard I Silver Penny 1189-1199

No one will ever be sure whether or not Robin of Locksley (alias Robin Hood) ever existed and if he did was he the hero of the people - what we do know King Richard I (alias the Lionheart) was the King, he was a crusader and spent much of his time in the holy land fighting for Christianity against the Saracens leaving his bad brother John to rule the country cruelly ... We have pennies of both Richard and John, all of which have been identified and catalogued by a leading expert of the period (they are difficult coins to authenticate unless you know your subject). With all the exploits of Robin I bet these were some of the original coins he stole from King John to give to the poor - what do you think? - what a story for your collection! Anyway who wants to ruin a legend.
